Dale’s volunteer service at the Friendly Home began when his mom, Caroline, was a Member here. On Thursday afternoons, Dale would work at the Friendly Gift Shop, Caroline by his side. “We both enjoyed talking with the Members, staff and visitors in the shop. It was good for her to have a change of scenery and meet new people,” Dale recalls.
After Caroline passed away, Dale continued to volunteer: “I feel like I’m contributing. The gift shop provides a great service for Members, allowing them the opportunity to get the things they need and enjoy.” Dale, who now works at the gift shop two afternoons a week, says getting to know the other gift shop volunteers is an added bonus of his service. “The Friendly Home is a great place, and I’m glad to help out here!” he says.
