Even after working at the Friendly Home for 21 years, Betty couldn’t get enough of making a difference here! Shortly after her retirement, Betty came back to the Friendly Home – this time as a devoted volunteer. “I needed something to do with my time,” says Betty. “I’m a people person and love working with the Members. If I can make them happy and make them smile, then I go home feeling good.”
Betty’s past volunteer service has included lending a hand in our Finance office and accompanying Members on lunch outings. Betty fondly remembers impromptu sing-alongs on the way to and from the weekly restaurant visits. She jokes, “We used to say what happens on the bus, stays on the bus!”
Today, Betty joins Members for Bingo: “I look forward to it, and I think they do too! They know me and they’re happy I’m here to help them.”
Says Betty, “The Friendly Home is a wonderful place to work and to volunteer. I’ve always enjoyed spending time and interacting with our Members.”
