Invested in Care: Friendly Senior Living Staff Begin LPN Licensure Journey

At Friendly Senior Living in Rochester, NY, the heart of our care has always been our people. As the senior population grows, so does our commitment to ensuring they are supported by the most skilled, compassionate hands in the industry.

That’s why we are thrilled to announce our latest cohort of the Staff Training and Education Program (STEP): Laima, Ari, Ana, and Bertha. These dedicated team members are officially beginning their journey toward becoming Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs).

What is STEP?

Launched in 2018, STEP was created to bridge the gap between passion and professional advancement. The program empowers our current employees to further their education, providing a clear pathway from their current roles into specialized nursing.

“By meaningfully investing in our staff, we can attract, recruit, and retain the best of the best candidates, and – most importantly – provide high-quality, excellent, and compassionate care to those we serve,” says Glen Cooper, Friendly Senior Living President & CEO.

The Road to Licensure

Our students are heading to Monroe Community College (MCC) for a rigorous, life-changing 12 months. This isn’t just a classroom course; it is a deep dive into the art and science of nursing:

  • 12 Months of intensive study.
  • 1,100 Hours of clinical, lab, and classroom experience.
  • Goal: Preparing to ace the NCLEX-PN Exam and step into their roles as LPNs.

Why It Matters

This isn’t just about a title change — it’s about the Members and Residents we serve. By supporting our staff’s dreams, we ensure that the faces our Members and Residents already know and trust are equipped with the highest level of expertise.

When we invest in our team, we invest in the quality of life for every senior who calls one of our communities home.
