As we are now in Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs from September 15 to October 15, I want to take a moment to emphasize the significance of this celebration and how proud we are to have a diverse and dedicated Hispanic staff that enriches our organization.
Hispanic Heritage Month began as a week-long celebration in 1968 and was expanded to a month in 1988. It starts on September 15, a date that holds special significance as it marks the independence anniversaries of several Latin American countries including: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. This month allows us to reflect on the diverse heritage and experiences of Hispanic individuals and communities throughout history.
The contributions of our staff are vital to the success of Friendly Senior Living. Unique perspectives, experiences, and cultural insights help create a welcoming environment for everyone. Celebrating this month is a way to acknowledge and appreciate our staff’s hard work and dedication. Fostering an understanding of different cultures enriches our community as a whole, and by celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month, we create an opportunity for cultural exchange that benefits staff, Members and Residents.
Recognizing and celebrating the diverse backgrounds of our staff promotes an inclusive environment ~ one in which we live our values always. Let’s come together to celebrate the rich Hispanic heritage and promote a culture of inclusivity and understanding!
