The Magic of Music

Music plays an important role in our everyday lives, often more than we even realize.  As we age we still ‘feel’ rhythm and the impact of music even if our hearing or cognitive capability is affected.  Studies have shown that music is powerful, engaging, and can tap into our inner being.  We know that when music is involved it can help us celebrate a special occasion, or to sing with a loved one, and when that special tune is played, it often reminds us of those sweet memories that fill our hearts.

This year National Assisted Living Week is September 7th – 13th and the celebration is “The Magic of Music.”  This is a unique time for everyone to come together to celebrate music by sharing it with another individual, whether it be a loved one, a neighbor, friend or a person you support as a volunteer.  Find just one person to reach out to with music whether it is through singing, performing or enjoying the music together helping you to relax, reminisce or to simply fill your soul.

Glenmere at Cloverwood, our Assisted Living community, will be offering a host of music festivities for residents, families, staff and volunteers in celebration of “The Magic of Music” during National Assisted Living Week September 7- 13th.  (For more information see the September Activity Calendar at www.glenmere.org)
