Let It Snow!

As a new year begins, the seemingly simple act of building a snowman was a timely reminder of some powerful life lessons:

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. Or in this case, when a Rochester winter storm drops a foot of snow on the ground, make a snowman! Brandon, a Friendly Home recreation specialist who works in our Memory Care Center, bundled up on a recent cold and snowy day. As our Members watched from the cozy comfort of indoors, Brandon began building a snowman in the courtyard.

Many hands make light work. Brandon wasn’t working alone in making the snowman. The companion of one of the Members brought in a snowman kit, complete with eyes, nose and buttons. The visiting friend of another Member saw what Brandon was up to and promptly joined in to lend a hand and finish the project.

The best things in life are free. During the holiday season when the focus is often more on buying presents and taking advantage of after-Christmas sales, a smiling snowman outside the windows of the Memory Care Center has brought a lot of happiness to our Members, staff and visitors.
