It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Throughout the Friendly Senior Living continuum, the season is indeed festive and bright. At The Friendly Home, December is full of celebrations, including holiday parties with Members and their loved ones, a cookie exchange featuring Members’ favorite recipes, a trip around town to see the holiday lights, worship services, and music – lots of music! – from visiting carolers of all ages to the Silvertones Flute Choir. The Linden Knoll halls are decked with boughs of holly, and residents will come together at the annual holiday party to share delicious foods, laughter and friendship with their neighbors. Shopping outings, wrapping parties, holiday crafts and more music round out the fun! The tree in the Cloverwood lobby is always a highlight, grand and tall and decorated by residents. Trips to Stever’s chocolate shop on Park Avenue, the Christmas Tree Shop, Wisteria and Eastview Mall are planned, and holiday stress is relieved by morning stretching classes, yoga and aqua fitness. At Glenmere, a tree trimming party at the beginning of the month kicked off the festivities, followed by a trip to the George Eastman House to view the annual gingerbread house display, holiday light tours and parties. Pet visits, musical entertainment, games and the monthly men’s breakfast are favorite happenings throughout the year enhanced by holiday flair in December.
At Friendly Senior Living, we wish our residents, families, staff, volunteers and community partners a joyful and peaceful holiday season!
The joy of brightening other lives, bearing each other’s burdens, easing others’ loads and supplanting empty hearts and lives with generous gifts becomes for us the magic of the Holidays. (W. C. Jones)
